Topic: Deep Dive into HICP – Healthcare Cyber Threats and How to Mitigate
Learn more about the voluntary, consensus-based, industry led and developed cybersecurity practices for the healthcare industry. We will discuss how a 150 member driven task force, facilitated by the Department of Health and Human Services, identified 5 cyber threats to healthcare and the 10 practices to help mitigate them.
Speaker: Erik Decker, Chief Security and Privacy Officer at University of Chicago Medicine
Erik is the Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer for the University of Chicago Medicine, and is responsible for its Cyber Security, Identity and Access Management and HIPAA Privacy Programs. Erik has 17 years of experience within Information Technology, with 12 years focused on Information Security. The majority of his career has been focused in academic medicine and the healthcare industry. Erik is the previous Chair of the AEHIS Board, and a newly elected member of the inaugural Executive Council of the Healthcare Sector Coordinating Council. He co-leads a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) task group of 150 industry experts across the country for implementing the CISA 405D legislation within the Healthcare sector. They recently published the cybersecurity guidance “Health Industry Cybersecurity Practices: Managing Threats and Protecting Patients” (HICP). He was also awarded the 2017 Chicago CISO of the Year in October, 2017.
