Please join the ISSA Chicago Chapter for our monthly chapter meeting. This month’s featured speaker will be Jim Broome, CEO, DirectDefense. Hours ‘d oeuvres will be served. Cash bar available. ISSA Chicago Chapter members receive a complimentary drink if they register for the meeting as a member.


Topic: The Evolution of Social Engineering

This presentation takes a look at just how much Social Engineering attacks have evolved over the years and where it’s heading in the future. During the course of this presentation, Jim Broome will be discussing social engineering techniques utilized over the years to gain unauthorized access to the internal network and how attackers are bypassing current security technologies.

  • Phone Based Attacks – The easiest way to get information is to just ask for it.
  • Phishing Based Attacks – How phishing sites have evolved from simple forms to cloned web sites.
  • Physical Based Attacks – Acting like you belong and a little ingenuity can you get you long way to gaining unauthorized access to a facility
  • Technologies Defeated – How attackers are bypassing current technologies

 


Speaker: Jim Broome, CEO, DirectDefense

Mr. Jim Broome is a seasoned IT/IS veteran with 20+ years of information security experience in both consultative and operational roles. Jim leads DirectDefense, where he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company, as well as providing guidance and direction for DirectDefense’s security service offerings.
